My Bug List

My Bug List:

  1. Phone (iPhone) dying with 10% or more battery remaining
    • I believe this happens because after the phone battery has been in use for a long time, the battery gets weak and when apps that require a lot of data and energy, like snapchat, are running the phone cant keep up with the necessary energy consumption and crashes.
  2. SW Rec. gym is too crowded in the afternoon
    • There can be many reasons for this. One being that many students do not have parking decals and wait until 3:30pm to go so they can park without being ticketed. Also many students wake up late or have classes in the morning and want to workout before they eat dinner, so they go in the early afternoon.
  3. ATM withdrawal fees
    • They banks take your money because they can. Simply as that.
  4. Lack of scooter parking near Heavener Hall
    • The closest scooter parking is near library west, even though most every business class takes place in Heavener Hall. There is room for a scooter parking lot, but I guess the university doesn't see this as a necessity.
  5. The amount of "expert" sports commentators
    • If there were two people labeled experts in a subject, then you would think they should have all the necessary knowledge and come to the same conclusion and answers, yet everyday "expert" analysts argue with each other and have totally different conclusions to games and players. There cannot be an expert in a field that is surrounded by opinions.
  6. The National Anthem - most overplayed song ever!
    • The national anthem is played at the beginning of almost every professional sporting event in the US. That means it is played tens of thousands of times a year. There is nothing special about it anymore at sporting events and a lot of meaning has been taken away from the song. Is it really an honor to sing the national anthem at the beginning of a sporting event when there are thousands of people that do it every day. I believe the National Anthem is overplayed because it has sadly become some kind of tradition in the sports world and it is a constant reminder to have some patriotism, even when there is no need for it at a sporting event. And... does everyone really want to be forced to stand up and listen to some random person poorly sing a song every time they are trying to have a good time. I know I don't.
  7. 48 hr. deodorant... whats the point?
    • The reason this exists is purely to make customers think the product is superior to other brands and can stop sweating for even longer. Unless you have one stick of deodorant to last you months and you are hiking and have no access to a shower there is no point in these products. When is the last time you didn't shower and could not access your deodorant for two days straight. Just reapply!
  8. Line for subs at Publix on 34th and University is always long
    • This is because this Publix is closest to the university and Publix subs are the best subs around.
  9. Seeing ads on Facebook, Amazon, etc. for things I just bought...so I don't need anymore.
    • I really don't mind seeing ads on sights for products I have been shopping for, but these sights and ads should know when you have purchased the item. The programs and algorithms used for tracking ads just cannot identify when the user does not need the items they have searched for anymore.
  10. DJ Khalids's snapchats are the same thing over and over. He says the same thing, in the same place, wearing the same clothes.
    • DJ Khalid's snapchats are a big hit right now and many people quote him all the time. I stopped watching them though because he says the same thing every day. There is nothing original to his snaps. He does the same thing over and over because he id getting attention from it and is making money from it.
  11. Printers not printing black and white even when only one color is low on ink.
    • There can only be one explanation for this. The companies that make the printers want you to buy more ink.
  12. Ads still play even with a hulu subscription
    • If I am paying for a subscription (I'm using my sisters account, so I'm not), then why do I still have to watch ads? hulu is just trying to make as much money as they can.
  13. Bathrooms not having paper towels and only having dryers
    • The reason for bathrooms not having paper towels is obvious. It is more eco friendly to not use paper products. The hand dryers are just terrible though.
  14. Buffering videos on the internet
    • High internet traffic and slow network speeds are the main case for this.
  15. Burgers automatically come with pickles, relish, mayo, mustard, etc at McDonalds.
    • They do this because it makes it easier fro the workers to make the burgers. they do not have to think about what the customer wants and just do the same thing every time. It just sucks when you forget to tell them that you wanted your mcdouble with only ketchup.
  16. Standard iPhone charging cables are too short
    • Short cables are useless. It is so annoying when you can't use your phone because it is charging and the closest wall outlet is too far from your bed. I guess it is just cheaper for apple to make the cables short. And it makes customers go out buy more if they want a longer cable.
  17. Still getting emails from websites you have unsubscribed to
    • It takes less than a minute to get an email from a website after signing up but for some reason when you wan to unsubscribe it takes days or weeks. Companies do this just so you they can keep putting their name in from of you.
  18. Seemingly never ending construction on campus
    • I get that the university is trying to constantly better itself, but when is it ever going to end. The university cares more about its image and prestigious ranking among other colleges than anything else, so that is where the money goes.
  19. Service fees when buying tickets for sporting events online
    • What service is being rendered when i buy a ticket online. The computer does all the work and costs the companies almost nothing. Companies just input these fees because they can.
  20. Cover fees for bars/clubs even when you are 21 years old or older
    • Why do I have to pay just to get into a place where I am going to spend money. Just another fee that has no purpose besides making more money.

Reflection on creating this list:

It was not hard to think of the first ten things on list. After the first ten though, it was extremely difficult to think of things that bug me. I was surprised at how hard it was to think of these, because it seems like I am annoyed a lot but I guess I am not. When trying to think of things that bugged me, I kept going through products, then companies, then apps, then people. I thought of some things that annoy me a lot about society in general but I tried to stick with products or companies. I will definitely keep my eyes open for things that bug me in the future.

  2. I agree with quite a few things on your bug list. The ads especially. Whether they are on Facebook or the unsubscribed emails they seem to never go away. I found it hard to come up with some of them because the bugs only come to mind when they're happening. Here's the link to my bug list http://entbuglist.blogspot.com/

  3. Hey Thomas,
While I agree with most of the items in your bug list I have to say that some of your items are contradictory such as having a long cable for iPhones, It must be annoying carrying a long cable everywhere, to me cables are wither too long or too short they are never the right length and that is extremely annoying. Your number 7 48hr deodorant is in fact extremely pointless, I take at least 3 showers a day and I put on deodorant every time after I shower. number 20 is a real world problem or annoyance for those who are used to go clubbing which is not my case but hey it must be annoying to pay to get inside when you don't consume anything inside of the club and still have to deal with drunk boys and girls stumbling on you and spilling their drinks everywhere, its like you don't even have to shower when you get home the amount of vodka and tequila your skin had absorbed probably sterilized you for life.

checkout my bug list, hey you might find out there are other things that bug you but you just didn't think about it:
